Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft) and Welcome dinner with cultural show

Welcome to the glorious beautiful city of naturally rich Nepal. Upon arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), complete the immigration formalities. Meet our office representative in arrival gate. After welcoming, transfer to the hotel and check in to the room. Have a welcome drinks and get refreshed. Late evening, we go for dinner in a cultural restaurant where we will be seeing the tribal dances of different tribes and finally enjoy the delicious cultural dishes.  Overnight in the hotel. 

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Today we visit 2 UNESCO World Heritages Sites of Kathmandu among 7 and later, late afternoon we participate in trek briefing session. After breakfast, first we drive to Kathmandu Darbar Square, where you will get stunning views of ancient temples, houses and palace. We visit the palace of Malla and Shah King Dynasties, KalVhairav- deity of justice, home of living goddess Kumari and if lucky we get blessed from her, Maru Ganesh- one of the four main Ganesh Temples without pinnacle on the roof and many more legendary temples and monuments. Then we drive to SwaymbhunathStupa, standing erect in the hillock offering a 360-degree view of the city. Swaymbhunath is a popular ancient Buddhist pilgrimage site, also known as the Monkey temple, which is the oldest stupa more than 2000 years old.Swaymbhunath is the white dome with a gold conical shape on top painted with the watchful eyes of Buddha. Besides main Stupa, we visit Peace Pond, Harati Temple, Shantipur, Pratap MallaTurm, Agnipura, Nagpura, different monasteries, chortons and temples. Sightseeing will be completed till noon. In the late afternoon, at the hotel, we will interact with our trek guide who will be explaining the trek details. After briefing, rest day is free on your own. You can do shopping of overlooked but necessary trekking gears at Thamel market. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Jagat (1100m/3608 ft): 8-10 hrs drive

Today we drive up to trek starting point, Jagat. After early breakfast we drive along Trishuli and Marshyangdi Rivers, passing through country side of Nepal which offers varied sceneries of greenery, villages, farms and mountains. Drive up to Beshi Sahar is through normal road and ahead we pass through the canoe of Marshyangdi River till Syange. After about 10 hours scenic drive we reach Syange/Jagat. Have dinner and overnight in guest house.

Day 04: Trek Jagat to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft): 7-8 hrs trek

Today is our first trekking day and start leisurely through the forest trail along the Marshyangdi River. We walk motor able road for an hour to Chamje after then we cross the suspension bridge and follow the gradual up trail for 1.5 hours to Sattale and further half an hour ascend offers the view of Tal, where river get wider and seems like a lake.  It is the good place for lunch break. After about an hour walk from Tal we again cross the suspension bridge and further 2 hours motor-able road trek passing through Karte Village will bring us to Dharapani. Dharapani separates the Manang and Manaslu region and also offers good scenery with the Dudh khola confluence into the Marshyangdi River.

Day 05: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft): 5-6 hrs trek

From today, the trekking trail lies in rain shadow area behind the Annapurna Range till the Muktinath. Today, on the way, we can see beautiful view of Manaslu, peak29, Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II.  After leisure breakfast, we follow the motor-able gradual ascend path for an hour to Bagarchhap. Further, passing the pleasurable trail up to Danakyu, we climb steep path through the pine and rhododendron forest to Timang. From there about 3 hour’s gradual up and down trail passing by the beautiful village of Tanchok, Koto bring us to Chame, the headquarter of Manang district.

Day 06: Chame to Pisang (3,300m/10824ft): 5-6 hrs trek

Today, as high as we reach, the sceneries become more spectacular, climate become dry and Himalayas view is superb. After breakfast, we continue our gradual walk along the Marshyangdi River, through pine forest and crossing the village of Thaleku we reach Bhratang, which takes 1.5 hours.  Further, we climb short and the sharp bend of Paungda Danda just above the gurgling White Water River. After few minutes gentle slope we cross the suspension bridge and climb through the forest and reach beautiful Dhikur Lake. Another 1.5 hours gradual climb crossing the suspension bridge will bring us to Upper Pisang. From Upper Pisang we can see the view of spectacular Himalayas of Lamjung, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Annapurna II, III and IV and Chulu Far East, Pisang peak. After refreshment, we visit monastery and explore Upper Pisang.

Day 07: Upper Pisang to Manang (3,500m/11,482ft): 6-7 hrs trek

From today, the vegetation changes into bare land up to Muktinath and Himalayan views become closer and closer. After breakfast, we descend steep path to Lower Pisang and then gradual walk for 2 hours bring us to Humde.  Passing by chortons, Mani wall, Humde Airport and check post in Humde we continue gradual walk to Braga which takes another 1.5 hours. From Braga, the vegetation disappears. Visiting 900 years old monastery in Braga we continue gradual trail for 1.5 hours to reach Manang. Admire the beautiful close up view of Gangapurna Mountain, glacier and Lake with another giant Annapurna III and Tilicho Himal.

Day 08: Manang: Acclimatization

Today we spend a day in Manang in order to acclimatize in the thinning air. It is highly recommended to stay active in rest day also which helps to acclimatize the body quickly. Hiking in little high altitude will help to acclimatize properly. Morning we hike to Monastery and later visit Gangapurna Lake. Late afternoon explore the village and culture of Manangies.

Day 09: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,050m/13,284ft): 3.5 hrs trek

Today all the trail is gradual up with some bends and little up and down. From Manang we climb gradually for 1.5 hours passing by Ghusang and descend to Gyanchang Khola. After crossing the bridge we ascend all the way passing through Mani Wall, Chortons and finally reach Yak Kharka. From Yak Kharka the view of Chulu East, Thorung Peak and Gangapurna is marvelous.

Day 10: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450m/14,596ft): 3-4 hrs trek

Today, all the way, we follow Kone Khola and cross 2 small bridges and landslide area. There is change to see blue sheep as well as chance of rock falling in Landslide area, so we need to be watchful. From Yak Kharka we climb gradually and cross a bridge before reach to Ledar.  From Ledar, about 3 hours gradual climb passing by small tea shop, crossing the suspension bridge, landslide area; finally we reach Thorong Phedi, at the base of Throung La Pass.

Day 11: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft) via Thorong La (5,416m/ 17,764ft): 7-8 hrs trek

Today is the longest, adventurous and climax day of the trek as we cross the longest pass, Thorong La and reach to holiest temple of Muktinath worship by both Hindu and Buddhist. Today we left Manang district behind and enter into Mustang District. We start our trek around 4 am at dark and most of the trail through snowy path. We climb continuously for 4 to 5 hours and reach highest point of our trek, Thorong La Pass. We enjoy the view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Manapathi Himal, Tukuche Peak, Thorong Peak from the Pass and steep descend for about 4 hours to reach Muktinath.

Day 12: Drive Muktinath to Tatopani (1,200m/3937ft): 6-7 hrs drive

Morning we explore Muktinath area. We visit Muktinath Temple, Jwala Mai and monastery. Later we take a local jeep and enjoy the scenic drive passing through beautiful villages till Tatopani. Late afternoon, we recharge whole body in natural warm water in the pond of Tatopani.

Day 13: Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,860m/9,380ft): 7-8 hrs trek

Today is long steep hike day. After breakfast we walk motor-able road for 45 min and crossing suspension bridge we climb steep trail from Gharkhola Gaun. We walk for 5 hours passing by scattered villages to reach Chitre. From Chitre we climb through rhododendron forest for about 2 hrs to reach Ghorepani village, concentrated mostly with Magar and Gurung ethnic people. The magnificent view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Mountain Range is admirable. Before get into the bed, arrange the headlight or flashlight for tomorrow’s early peculiar walk in the dark to Poonhill.

Day 14: Ghorepani to Poonhill (3,210m/ 10529ft) to Tadapani [2,630m/8,626ft]: 6-7 hrs trek

Today we have to walk in dark before sunrise to catch the breathtaking sunrise view over massive Himalayas from the Poonhill. Early wake up and start our trek to Poonhill. We climb steep stone paved trail for about an hour to reach Poonhill. We can see more than 15 snowcapped major beautiful mountain peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. Seeing sunrise from Poonhill is something beyond our expectation. When the sun comes up behind the mountains, we must make our camera ready to capture mesmerizing view which is very rare. We will spend about an hour in Poonhill taking some hot liquor in the cool environment and return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we continue our trek to Tadapani. Whole trail is through the deep forest of Rhododendron and Oak. We climb gradual up to reach Duerali Pass. Further, all the way is descending but with little ups somewhere to reach Tadapani. Tadapani is the small residence consisting of just 10-15 lodges. From here also, we can see beautiful and close up view of Annapurna, Hiuchuli and Fishtail mountains. Have dinner and overnight in Tadapani.

Day 15: Tadapani to Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara (850m/2,789ft): 6-7 hrs trek and 1 hour drive

Today, the trail is gradual slop for about 2.5 hours through dense forest of Oak till we reach Ghandruk, the beautiful and largest village of Annapurna Region. On the way, there is chance to encounter with animals. Another 4 hours gradual downward slopping trek passing by different scattered villages of Kimche, Syauli Bazzar, Birethanti bring us to the trek end point at Nayapul. On the way, we pass by small water fall where we can capture last memories of the trip. We get back to Pokhara from Nayapul via drive. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 16: Pokhara to Kathmandu: 6 hrs drive

Today after breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu leaving the beautiful Pokhara behind filling up with great memories. It's about 6 hours drive from Pokhara to reach Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you can go shopping in Thamel area on your own. Late evening, we celebrate the success of our trek having dinner together. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 17: Final Departure

Enjoy the last breakfast of the trip. You are free till departure time. If you have more time you can do last minute shopping or sightseeing around Kathmandu. Our office representative will lead you to the airport 3 hours before your schedule flight. As you take off enjoy the final views of the Himalayas and farewell.
